dmdec Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I have a 1951 Cranbrook coupe with 39000 miles on it. The motor runs like new, with no issues. I may have a chance to pick up a 1948 Coupe and was wondering if the '51 motor and trans. would drop in with little or no mods needed. Always wanted a business coupe and would glady make the switch if its no big deal. What problems would I encounter ? Thanks Quote

If the 48 needs a new engine the sale should take care of the expense. Quote
choptop40 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Go for it.....sell the 4 door complete less motor trans.... Quote
choptop40 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Oops ..ok. Never mind......knucklecharlie has you covered.... Quote

Thanks It should drop right in but I've got to agree with the other guys about why would you pull it out of a low mileage car. Unless of course its a rusty POS. Quote
dmdec Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 Actually Choptop, it's a Club Coupe, but you guys make some very good points. I appreciate the input. Probably would be mach easier just to sell the club coupe. BTW underside is rusty, but all panels and the rockers are pretty much rust free. Any idea what its worth ?? Quote

I can't put a dollar value on it,but you can rest assured it is worth enough to pay for a machine shop rebuild of the 48 engine, plus go a long ways towards restoring/refurbishing the rest of the car.
