JIPJOBXX Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Can you remove the hot box gasket without removing the exhaust manifold? Mine leaks and I would rather remove just the transition piece but if not I will remove the intake and exhaust manifold and install the new gasket after that. Item: 3220 is the gasket that is blown Quote
rearview Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 *IF* you can get all the connecting bolts out and loosen the manifolds then maybe. I broke off 2 of my bolts, and then the mating surface was pretty crappy. I'd suggest against trying it since you'll induce manifold to head leaks and probably not seal the intended surface properly anyway. Bob Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Maybe you just need some of this? They claim it's "The miracle sealer that stops leaks immediately!" Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted July 5, 2007 Author Report Posted July 5, 2007 No but I could weld up the flange area and it would never leak again! Quote
greg g Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 I don't think you can do it without removing the manifolds. As noted there are four bolts that hole the two manifolds together. if you can loosen them without having one or more break you will be very lucky. If you can get them out from the bottom, you might be able to loosen the assembly enough to get the intake off or far enough away to remove the ole gasket and insert the new one. Might be owrth a try but probably much easier in the long tun to pull both and do the seperation and other work on the bench. Quote
