The padding is gone on the inside firewall. The push in clips are still there. I figure the padding just rotted away years ago. Has anyone come up with a substitute padding material?  Thanks Stan

insulation can be of many suitable types..your call..most use what may be available on hand, or what they have been used to using on a job site and just familiar with it..other read and search out what they think will be most practical for the cost.  Cost is often a deciding factor.  Many here have used standard jute backing, other just typical dense foam rubber right down to high dollar peel an stick strips of rubber/foil specialty products.  I have used a mixture of the above on various cars all with great results...my last car I installed the firewall of a late model car and transferred with that the factory thick rubber foam backed insulation pad..it is basically what you want and how you wish to go about it...be a bit more proactive and search the forum using the search feature and you will get not only ideas of what, but pictures of works in progress...also just a few descriptive words in a internet search engine will get a host of results..

Saw a write up at a site named moparmotorhead.com about how a guy did a firewall for a 60s Barracuda. When this site appears, on the right side there is a list of topics and firewall is at the bottom.
