Seaside Pete Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 Hi Guys My 47 was already changed to 12v neg earth when i purchased it. However some of the things were disconnected so I am now trying to get them all working, Radio, heater fan, fuel gauge etc. I know I will have to get the correct voltage drop resistors but does the wiring have to be changed at all to take care of the correct earth, in the heater fan for example? I think the Radio would be ok. Thanks in advance for any help. Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) only if you have a permanent magnet motor...original motors were not... Edited March 30, 2015 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 Suggest you get a 12 volt heater motor. This one worked for me. Quote
Seaside Pete Posted March 30, 2015 Author Report Posted March 30, 2015 Hi PA I have the original heater installed. Hi Don. Was it just a case of un bolting the OE motor and bolting that replacement motor in? Plus where can I pick one of those up please? Pete Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 Yes it was a bolt in for me. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=pm354+motor Quote
junkers72 Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 I used an OEM motor from a 69 imperial rear defogger unit in my 41 plymouth heater. Was a direct replacement. Replacement part is a Four Seasons # 35504 $30.79 on rockauto Quote
48mirage Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 There used to be a thread exactly about replacing the 6 volt fan motor with a 12. I used it and saved it in my favorites but it is not there anymore. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=25353&highlight=napa+motor For my other 6 volt needs I use this: http://koolcars.us/catalog.html I would like to find a direct replacement for my defroster fan or windshield wiper motor. If I try to use both with the voltage reducer I will blow the fuse protecting the reducer or burn up the reducer (don't ask me how I know). The culprit is the starting amps to run both of these at one time. Quote

47heaven Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) I have a heater like Don's, and the first thing I did was replace the heater motor with the same 12 volt one that he used. I bought mine from Napa.Has worked like a charm since. Edited April 1, 2015 by 47heaven Quote
