UncleDonnie Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 I'm on the way to making a deal on a 51 Plymouth 2 door hardtop that is a six tear old restoration. It's all stock drive train with a manual 3 speed I would like to swap a Torqueflite into it. My clutch leg has gone bad so it is a necessary evil. I'm finding kits for Chevy trans but I really want to stay all MOPAR. Thanks in advance for the help. Don Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 Wayfarer on this forum makes and sells the adaptor you want, shoot him a PM. 1 Quote
Tones52 Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 Hi Don, This might be a help to you, too. It's a link from the Quality Engineering Components site. I believe there's threads on this forum of similar transmission swaps. Good luck in your efforts. Tony http://www.qualityengineeredcomponents.com/?page_id=222 1 Quote

UncleDonnie Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 Thanks for the link that's great info. New to this vintage of MOPAR's and I would have never guessed there was big variations of crank flange spacing. Gonna have to do some research surfing on his site. Quote

Andydodge Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I'd try & find a late 50's Dodge/Plymouth six & auto, they would have used the cast iron 3 speed torqueflite rather than the earlier 2 speed powerflite.........tho adaptors to run the alloy 904 / 6 cyl. T/flite should be around.... also try Wilcap........andyd Quote

YukonJack Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I have an AL one from a 56 Plymouth. Adapter or powerflite trans? Quote
Andydodge Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Didn't know they used an alloy box till the early 60's......all Torqueflites & Powerflites up til then were alloy bellhousing, cast iron box and alloy tailpiece........or so I thought..........andyd Quote
UncleDonnie Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 The deal was sealed today so here are some unofficial mandatory pix. Wheels gotta go! Don 1 Quote
DJ194950 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Looks like the add-on wires and spinners are are removeable, just add some baby moons with the chrome wheels and be more Old-school! Nice looking car. More pics after settled in her new home. DJ Quote
David Strieb Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Welcome, Nice Belvedere !! My older brother and I shared a '51 Belvedere in the late '60's, was granddads car that was given to us. Was rear ended in '71 at one of the two stoplights on I- 90 (North Bend, Wa.), My dad continued to drive it to work for several years and sold it. Was a nice orginal 70,000 mile car. You're not far from me, I'm in Auburn. Quote
David Strieb Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Found some photos of the '51 Belvedere that was rear ended in 1971. What a waste!! Quote
bbbbbb99 Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Adapter or powerflite trans? Adapter. But the tranny was a powerflight. I think the bolt pattern is the same though. I'll check Quote
