ruff1148kr Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) Happened to be looking at stereo install ideas and came across a round stereo receiver just for fun called Crutchfield to see if marine radio would work on a car, got a real pro who walked me through it and showed me how it could be done. claims its done alot on clasics but I have never seen it. thought might look good installed inside one of the speaker grill trim rings just an idea for those who are ok with having music on a thumb drive instead of CD. NiftyFifty Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Looks cool, a Bluetooth version would be really nice, that would eliminate any need for wires out of the dash Quote
ruff1148kr Posted November 11, 2014 Author Report Posted November 11, 2014 This one is Bluetooth and IPhone wireless the cord show is something separate I was looking at for front thumbdrive port to mount under dash http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_76489_Dual-MGH30BT.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PLA&scid=scplp6738254&gclid=CMe6q5bz8sECFQUR7AodUi8AMw Quote
NiftyFifty Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Sweet, I know which way I'm going now! Saves the cut in the dash for the gauges, as I was going to mount a regular deck into where the stock gauges went Quote
ruff1148kr Posted November 12, 2014 Author Report Posted November 12, 2014 Let me know if you decide, sure would like to see a pic, lots of different style round recivers out there. But in my case I have to check out a few other things first and can't get to the truck right now. Quote
38plymouth Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I was struggling with how to add a stereo to my stock 6 volt system and I didn't want it to be seen. I ended up buying a wireless Bluetooth speaker from walmart it runs on batteries or you can plug in to 110. I just set it on the back seat and run it off my phone with. Fast easy and portable. Quote
Mark D Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I put one of these in my car. Simple to install, great customer service. MADE IN THE USA! https://rediscoveradio.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=2&zenid=37c36129ae36b3fa65f8c06d71aa507e http://youtu.be/hCfgIOTDzOo Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I installed a bit different setup for my operation..remote display that looks like a radio but is less than 3/4 deep...unit mounts in truck or wherever you wish to hide it....true RF wireless thus not having to be directly pointed to the unit for control..and as many audio input and amp outputs as you have imagination...am very impressed with the unit... Unlike a Ferrari where approaching red line in first gear is over the speed limiit in any state, you don't really need a speedometer in our trucks, It would look really good there ya think? ruff1148kr Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 When we take the other trucks to shows we use the plug in garmin gps, great display for speedo Between problems with the speedo itself and the cable or right gear on the trans fitting I always seem to have somekind speedo issues anyhow. I have all new gauges for this truck that will be installed direct infront of steering wheel they are round about the same size as speaker grills that will be to the right of them. That's why I liked keeping the round theme It was just a thought I have not pursued yet but it would also solve my radio space issues Quote
