bluefoxamazone Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 hello, Is there some kind of procedure available (exploded view) on how to remove the seats from this car? I guess there is a frame bolted on the floor but how do you get access to the bolts? Or.... would it be possible to remove only the back from the front seat alone. I need some upholstery work done. It's a two door convertible. anybody a clue? thanks a lot!!! 1 Quote
RobertKB Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 You're right. They are bolted to the floor. You need to find the bolts and take them out and then remove the seat. Quote
DJ194950 Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) If they anything like a 50 Ply. then remove the front seat Bottom cushion and the the seat back cushions will be exposed on the lower edges bolted to the metal back.remove mounting bolts. Lift the cushion up to lift off tabs on the seat back slipped into notches in the metal back of the seat frame. The inner side of the front mount bolts will also be exposed, front and back per each side. Should have 8 total. Or is it 16??. two outside per leg =4 per side+ 8 outside and same inside+ 8 more. = 16. Per my old memory!! DJ Edited October 11, 2014 by DJ194950 Quote
DonaldSmith Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 A convertible, coupe or two-door sedan would having folding seat backs. My '47 DeSoto Suburban has folding backs on the front and middle seats. With its large doors, you can get anywhere from anywhere. Each seat back is secured at the outer hinge arm by a large, chrome-plated philips head bolt. The inner hinge is a pivot that fits in a hole. Undo the outer hinge and slip the seat back out of the inner pivot. Further, the upholstered part is removable from the seat back shell. Quote
