boltaction53 Posted August 9, 2014 Report Posted August 9, 2014 Has anyone completed a disc brake conversion and what rotor if any does the hub fit into without machining? Quote
Drifter99 Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Charlie sells a kit makes it easy and he's done the thinking. Just go to search.. Quote
pflaming Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 RustyHope.com should get you Charlies. I have one kit and will order two more. It's a very good way to go, not difficult and he has it all listed. AKA OldDaddy. 1 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 The upgrade works great, maybe a little grinding in some applications on the calliper mounting plate, but otherwise a great fit. I would also recommend upgrading your master cylinder to a dual reservoir with a proper proportioning valve, but I think some have left stock master in place. Good luck and welcome Quote

There are a couple kits out there that will use a top hat rotor and fit the hub after removing the rivets and separating the hub/drum combo, car for sure, truck maybe so you will have to ask...is this what you want to do..? After you define your path a more tailored response can be made for who makes what....again I will say our own member olddaddy does a great job with his kits and a good price....they use the later model hub/rotor combo.... Paul Beard Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 I have a disc brake setup from AAJ Brakes he uses a front rotor from a 74-81 1/2 ton four wheel drive dodge pickup. They are 12" rotors mopar #67001 I cutoff rivets and took off stock drum and they fit over original hub. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Do you plan on the purchase of a "kit" or build from scratch? If you go the kit route suggestions for rotors that are compatible will be included in the kit instructions. If you build from scratch you will have to do the measuring and fabrication yourself. For the time and expense involved in building from scratch I think you will find that the kit is a bargain and as has been mentioned the Rusty Hope kit is the best bargain both from cost and vendor support. 3 Quote

Paul Beard Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 You would have to call roger to get a price. I bought his entire kit. 503-890-1469 Quote
