BobT-47P15 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I think European prices are pretty high. Some use the Imperial gallon which is a little more than US gallon. Quote

DutchEdwin Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Mhhh, I think we have the highest gas prices overhere in Holland :7.27 Us $ per Gallon !!!! Regards Fred Fred, I think the British will top that....... Let me say, I hope so, gives me a more good feeling we do not pay the Jackpot! A few years ago I could drive over the border to Germany to get a lower price, now it is almost equal (EC policy?). So for daily driving DIESEL. $4.96 per us gallon. Quote
Fireball Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 ONLY $6.82 per US gallon in Finland, that's why I keep all my four US built cars running twentyfourseven... Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 I think European prices are pretty high. Some use the Imperial gallon which is a little more than US gallon. Bob, Only UK uses imperial gallon unit. When we refer to gas price per gallon, we always convert to US gallon and USD. Price in Finland is now round 1,37EUR/liter, which corresponds roughly to 7,-USD/gallon. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Sure makes our current $2.95 per gallon sound cheaper....here in Missouri. Quote
Robin (UK) Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Heres the UK price: By my calculations, one US gallon of unleaded costs about $7.07, today. That's at 95 pence ($1.87) per litre - some gas stations will charge more. For information: 1 Imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallons 1 US gallon = 3.785 litres Quote
Allan Faust Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 I believe the information I heard was that Europe had the highest gas prices.... why, real simple, its just about the only area in the world that doesn't have any oil under them.... (to subsidize it) they have to import all of it.... Allan Quote
Robin (UK) Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Allan, In the UK, most of what we pay at the pumps is taxes. In fact, duty and taxes accounts for abot 70% of the price. Quote
KINGSWAY52 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Hi all! Here in the middle of Norway the prise today was 12,69 Norwegian kroner pr liter. 1 us dollar is about 6,02 kroner so i think we winn this one Quote
Fireball Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Hi all! Here in the middle of Norway the prise today was 12,69 Norwegian kroner pr liter. 1 us dollar is about 6,02 kroner so i think we winn this one I think we found the "winner", and what amazes me here is that actually Norway has it's own oil unlike rest of us Europeans. But I guess your government is just even more greedy than ours with the taxation:rolleyes: Quote
kiwi mopar Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 here in New Zealand we paying $1.56 per liter. for 91 so that about $6.00 a gallon $1 new zealand buys about 74 cent U.S we pay a little more for 98 $1.64 i thnik Quote
martybose Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 (snip) But I guess your government is just even more greedy than ours with the taxation:rolleyes: Oh I don't know if that's a fair characterization. If someone told me that tomorrow our gas price would go up 50 cents per gallon, but the entire 50 cents would go towards road repairs and upgrades, I'd consider it money well spent. Marty Quote
Fireball Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Marty in that case I'd concidered as well, but does it? No it does not. On top of the taxes included in gas price we also pay yearly tax for using the vehicle which is 47 cents per day, drive or not. Plus the tax and VAT within price of the car are incredible here. As an example, the most basic Chrysler 300C in US is priced at $25000. Here after the above mentioned governmental greediness the price is $67500 for the same car. So I still feel we are paying too much taxes, and personal vehicles are multilayer taxed so many times that nobody can understand it from consumers perspective. You should see the main "highway" crossing our entire country, called E4, and you'd agree with me that the money goes elsewhere... Okidoc that's enough politics Quote
Robin (UK) Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Basic Chrysler 300C in the UK is the equivalent of about $52,000. And we pay an average of a dollar a day in vehicle tax - use it or not. Motoring is certainly expensive in Europe. Quote
UKPlymouth Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 I've been paying up to $8.77 (imperial gallon) here and it's probably dearer in London. 60% of that is tax. On a car with a reasonable sized engine (it depends on emissions) we pay a dollar a day road tax rising to nearly $600 per year on 'off road' vehicles - Range Rover, Jeep etc. The road tax is whether you use the vehicle or not but you can fill in a statutory notice declaring the vehicle is not used on the road and save this road tax. Then we lucky souls get to pay 5% (at present) tax on our insurance premium. The saving grace as far as my P15 is concerned is that the Chancellor let us classify this as an historic vehicle (manufactured before 1975) and I pay no road tax. Quote
Fireball Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 In Finland historic vehicle registration is also a possibility to avoid taxes, but then your driving with it is restricted to 30 days / year. Just loving it. Quote
