Tony Cipponeri Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Hey Guys, As I am A lazy Cuss, I know one of you (Tim Adams ) can tell me what is the width of my stock rear end in my 1950 business coupe. I can't crawl under there to see, so I am counting on you guys. I think I read here once that it was 51 inches from backing plate to backing plate. Tony C Quote
greg g Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Well, in those pants it looks a lot bigger than it should...........Oh wait this was a car question, sombody else will need to chime in as 49-52 are conspicuous by their absence on the chart I have. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Tony..I have moved all my stock removed components to Lou Earle....I do not find reference in my notes to stock..sorry but I think I have let you down.. PM sent Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted June 8, 2007 Author Report Posted June 8, 2007 Nobody gets let down on this forum, I am just to lazy to crawl under my car. Thanks Tony C Quote
PatS.... Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 My Second Series '49 Chrysler Club Coupe is 57 inches drum face to drum face. Quote
Kirby D34 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 My 1950 Dodge Club coupe is 53 inches from backing plate to backing plate Kirby D34 Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 Thank You Gentlemen, that measures up fine with the rear end I am getting, a 3.55 with Positraction, brake shoes and drums, for $150.00. WHAT A DEAL. Tony C Quote
PatS.... Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 What was the donor vehicle for that one, Tony? Quote
Kirby D34 Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 That was a good deal...I paid $200 for my 8 3/4 3.23 gear with sure grip no brake shoes no drums out of a 1966 plymouth fury Kirby D34 Quote
randroid Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Tony, IMHO if you are, in you're own words, "too lazy to crawl under under the car to measure it", who are you going to pay to measure it for you? And why? And what? And from any particular common points to which we each might relate? If you speak of knees are you speaking of a suspension system, and if so suspending what? Will the rear end be "jacked" or "hanging" when the tape is spread? Nothing personal and all said in in jest, when you post a thread with this title I'm surprised that I'm the first to goad you about it. -Randy Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 Hi Guys, The donor car was a volare, I don't know what year, but it was a r=Richard Petty Edition. Ranroid you weren't the first to goad me, Greg kind of hinted at what size pants I wore. The goading is what makes this forum fun. Tony C Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Should have gotten the E58 360 engine from the Petty "kit car" as they call it....I have a 318 Volare here at the house behind the barn for future donor for the 48 Plymouth..have not decoded the rear gear though...hoping for about 2.72 to 2.94 ratio... Tony Cipponeri Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 Hi Tim, I wish I could have got the whole car, but I guess it was beyond help and the rear end is all that is left of it. Tony C Quote
