Here's an update on my interior. Right now, all I have is a pic of the front of the car showing the true color and some of the seats and headliner. I managed to do the panels myself and will post pics of those later. Let me know what you think.

Marvelous, wouldn't you just love to see my sons (2 and 4 years) to jump in with some fries and Icecream :D

Really sharp looking upholstery!

Yikes! I don't even go in there with food, since I have a habit to spill, myself.

I've occasionaly let some little kids sit in my car at the friday night cruise in I go to. The parents are always shocked! But I've got no door panels and a vinyl seat so there isn't much they can wreck.

Thanks, guys! I had the upholstery done in sections to save money. After I found out that to have the entire inside of the car done was going to cost $2000-$4500, I decided to have different people do different parts and I would do what I could. The seats I had done here in Pomona by a guy who used to do upholstery on cars in Tijuana in the 1950's. A lot of "high end" guys have discovered him, so his pricing has sort of gone to his head, but he did great work on the seats. The only reason I had him do the seats is because he had that nice, original-looking material that he wasn't going to sell by itsself. (He was the one that quoted me at $4500 to do the whole inside). The headliner I ordered from EZ Rod Interiors and had it installed by another local guy. The headliner looks original and fits great and I highly recommend EZ Rod Interiors to anyone.

One thing about this fabric material is that it smudges and soils quickly. I'm constantly wiping smudges off it that seem to mysteriously appear. :(

Are the window mouldings and dash woodgrained? They look great. I used a EZ Rod Interiors white perforated headliner that I installed my self. Their work is great but my installation sucks!

Bob-

I didn't go the woodgrained route on my car because (1) It costs too much to have done and I'm not talented enough to do it myself and (2) I like the solid colors better. The mouldings and dash are painted the original color the exterior of the car was, which was Airwing Gray. Nonetheless, the color compliments the rest of the interior.

Regarding the headliner....I think if I had tried to install it myself I would have messed it up, no doubt. I leave the technical stuff to the pros. :)

I'm getting the electronic distributor dropped in tomorrow, so I'm good to go to get out your way. See ya soon.

Great looking!! The painted trim looks good too. I am most impressed with the headliner. My car is all original and the seats are great but the headliner has really darkened. I just keep my eyes on the road. Don't look up. May I ask how much the headliner cost for material, not the install? Eric

Man, Darin, that looks factory. Those grey window frames blend with the material nicely. Headliner appears an excellent job. The problem with getting one done up with quality work is that then you have to be really careful about it getting dirty, etc. Stuff has even happened to my $20 box seat covers over the years.

I used to stop by occasionally years ago at a local auto upholstry shop. A bunch of nice guys worked there. It always amazed me how they could just zip right thru making a seat cover and it would be right. They had many years of experience, however. I think your exterior color is great, too.

It sure is ! I'm going to get a quote from them for my 38 bizzy coupe. Thanks for the tip.

I really like the dash, window moldings, etc. painted. Makes the interior look much cleaner. I plan on doing that with my P-15 as well as the grain has deteriorated over the years. Probably paint mine body color (blue), but I do like the gray you have. Would look good with my blue/gray interior.

Decisions, decisions. :D

Car does look great though like everyone has said.

Steve...a lot of people have told me that they like that gray. In my opinion, gray is boring for an exterior color, but looks good inside, since many of the cars from that period had gray dashes and moulding trim. You are right about the solid painted dash giving it a clean look. If the woodgrain had been okay, I still would have painted it because the woodgrain gives it too much of an "antique" look. Again, the gray is called Airwing Gray and was an option on all the 1946-48 Plymouths.

Kind of off topic, but I did the same thing with my '65 Chevy truck I restored.

The outer color is original cardinal red and the interior color is a exterior gray color for the same year. Looks much better than the original interior paint in my opinion.
