Has anyone put a trailer hitch receiver on a pilothouse truck.  I'm looking for something I can use to pull a small vintage trailer.  I hope to find a really clean installation, so if anyone has any pictures I would love to see them.  Thanks

I got a class 3 receiver from a square body S-10 Blazer.  It is not installed yet but putting it up to the frame it appears to be an almost made to fit unit.  Just have to drill the frame.  It will go on during reassembly.  Bumper brackets on the inside of the frame and the hitch on the outside.

Charles, it's been mentioned here before, but if you have collector or antique insurance on your truck chances are good your coverage is void if you ever pull a trailer. And not just when you're pulling the trailer, if they find out your policy is void. There are a couple that cover it, but with most it's a problem.

I had this made by a local welding shop. It uses the same bolt mounting as the rear bumper and could be used with or without the stock rear bumper installed.  2" receiver, plenty beefy for a class 1 hitch. (<2K)

Nice Job! Are they available ? (I tried welding once) Or, is it too late to ask for a pattern for the plates and dimensions & lengths of the steel tubing. I'm sure I'm not the only one that likes it.

Very clean install the kind of design I really like,

Interesting notch on the drivers side....is that for the spare tire carrier?

Thanks for all the input.

Gerald, I really like the hitch you had built.  I think I might copy that design.

Gene, I hadn't considered the insurance issue relative to towing a trailer.  Actually, I don't insure this truck as a collector or antique vehicle anyway because I drive it all the time and don't like the restrictions of collector or antique insurance.
