fstfish66 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks! I don't have the steering column back in yet but turning the wheels by hand it clears the fenders if that's what you mean by "front wings"? , heres it turned back and fourth: Thanks ! My dad has a shed full of 49-52 mopar parts he actually had 3 fluid drive bell housings and a one 3 speed bell housing, he probably could build a car besides the main body and frame with the parts he has HAHA hes a member on here. heres his car helping him work on this car is actually what got me into old cars in the first place: nice love the color,,, didnt know there were so many late 40s eaarly 50s ply/dodges around we had a 4 dooor 51 or 52 ply when i was a kid,,, Quote
Losthope Posted March 9, 2014 Author Report Posted March 9, 2014 Been busy working a lot so progress has slowed on the wifes car , ive just been cleaning and painting parts that I took off mostly that I still need to put back on, but today I decided to make the dual exhaust , I need to round the corners still on the bottom pipe flange I added and need to make a thicker plate for the top I just have a thin metal pattern for mock up heres the pictures: Quote
Losthope Posted March 9, 2014 Author Report Posted March 9, 2014 wife showed up at lunch time with pizza and this is what happened for about a hour....really doesn't help with progress: that's it for today Quote
kented Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 im sure you've thought about this but since you've blocked off your exhaust manifold might cause some issues: http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/tech/why-you-need-to-heat-your-intake-manifold/ Quote
Losthope Posted March 9, 2014 Author Report Posted March 9, 2014 Ya got that covered im building my own dual intake and ill have it heated. Quote
Losthope Posted March 13, 2014 Author Report Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) EXCELLENT PROGRESS!!!!!!! The engine and tranny look great back in there and I'm digging the stance on the front...perfect!! The dual exhaust is really creative and looks sweet!! little update on what ive been doing and why no recent updates ,Ive been working on a intaket for the past couple days cut everything out by hand with cut off wheels and used a little homeowner drill press and a hole saw, I can tell you that I need to invest in some better equipment HAHAHA it took about a hour to a hour and a half to drill each hole in the the 1/2" plate..I still have some more work to do to it. have to drill and tap the two vacuum line ports in the bungs I just welded on and do some metal finishing, waiting for some gaskets to show up in the mail so I can bolt the top plate onto the top of the the exhaust manifold and get everything lined up and then cut a hole in it and weld a heat channel up to the bottom and sides of the intake to keep it heated like the stock design.. still a work in progress but I think its turning out pretty good and so far its cost me under $40 Edited March 13, 2014 by Losthope 2 Quote
fstfish66 Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 thats impressive,,best thing is you can tell every one you built it,,,,cant wait to see more,,,u may be getting orders from otheres wanting an intake,,, Quote
fstfish66 Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 just noticed the model A and C cab sitting on the shelf,,,,, Quote
pflaming Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Fistfish: I like to look in the background also. You just noted two FORD bodies in the rafters and there is a CHEBBY truck on the floor. Question: Is that cause for a 10 or a 30 day ban? Or maybe a set of his headers donated to the forum and we can either bid on them or have a lottery at the BBQ. Quote

knuckleharley Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) Sure would love to pick up a 26-27 T coupe or roadster body as nice as the roadster up on the ceiling. Always wanted to build a Tract T roadster, and I have a OHC 4 cylinder Datsun engine and 5-speed transmission sitting around that sure would be a good fit. IIRC,it is the one with the dual spark plugs and old enough it still has a carb. BTW,tell the guy with the Hudson that I have several sets of NOS pistons. May even have some rings. Uncle-Pekka Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 The Terraplane looks just great - Would love one myself. Is this a Hudson as well? Nice body apart the missing bits on the A-pillars... Quote
58prostreet Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Believe the A pillars are taped or banded to keep doors closed. Bob Quote

Dodge pick up is on a s10 chassis with fuel injected 6 cylinder its a great daily driver... Sure would love to pick up a 26-27 T coupe or roadster body as nice as the roadster up on the ceiling. I really want to build a t-bucket but Im cheap and cant really afford a steel body which is what I want, the one joe has on one of the shelfs is actually pretty rough its steel but caked with bondo so I decided to build the 26 dodge instead and it'll be something different then everyone always building model a-t's The Terraplane looks just great - Would love one myself. Is this a Hudson as well? Nice body apart the missing bits on the A-pillars... it is a Hudson and that's electrical tape I put on the doors to keep them shut not missing chunks Believe the A pillars are taped or banded to keep doors closed. Losthope Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) Well fellows its been awhile ive been busy with Work, other projects, and just daily life but i do have a update on the plymouth build.. I started cutting out the rusted floors and i ordered repopped rocker panels off ebay ...what i didnt know was that the repopped rockers are made to slip over the exsisting rockers (which is kinda dumb to me ,why would you weld on slip on rockers over the rusted out rockers?) anyways the seller didnt describe that in his ebay add so long story short i ended up getting half my money back and got to keep the inner and outer rockers for half price...being they were made to slip over exsisting rockers the contours and curvers of the outer rockers are all a little bit bigger and the inner rockers were a 1" taller then stock , i went to the guy with a 10' brake in the shop complex im at and we rebent the inners to stock size and i had to rework and fudge the outers to work , since the deminsions were totally wrong i couldnt use them full length and decided to replace the drivers rocker since it is the worst and ill use the rest of the repop rockers i have to make patch panels for the drivers rear and pass. side since they are in better shape.... anyways enough rambling heres the progress so far : Edited May 11, 2014 by Losthope Quote
Losthope Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) some of my time was taken up lately from getting the drivetrain from a wrecked 62 galaxie , for the 1926 dodge project , engine, trans, driveline ,and 9" rearend...Payment for stripping all the usable/sellable parts and cutting the galaxie up ... Joe Flanagan Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 I did that job on my own 49. Those rockers look like JC Whitney rockers. If I remember correctly, I used them on one side of my car but had to re-shape them so they were right. That's a job I don't want to do again. Quote
