Hate to say it because I don't want to discourage you but both of your question subjects have been discussed already in detail on this forum and a search using key words Pertronix and fluid drive will I think answer your questions. With the fluid drive unit there are two lubricants used, one for the transmission, and one for the transmission, you did not specify as to which you are trying to deal with.

... one for the transmission and one for the fluid coupling ...

As I remember, The semi-automatic transmission takes SAE 10 oil, and the fluid coupling takes a hydraulic fluid.

the key word in the thread intro was fluid drive..that original set up as NAMED is with clutch and 3 speed tranny, separate fluid for the coupler .., separate fluid for the transmission..the shop manual is very clear in the lubrication section what oil is needed in which..per my book here it states the D24 unlike the Desoto and the Chrysler of the era did not get the M series tranny..believe it may have been introduce with the 1949 new model Dodge..not the D24 carry over for 49

Access the bell housing via a small cover located on the passengers side of the floor hump.

Remove the round plug/cover in the bell housing.

You will then see the coupler. Turn it (by hand, or bump starter) until the fill plug aligns to the bell housing hole.

Remove the fill plug being careful not to drop it. If dropped inside, the lower bell housing cover will probably need to be removed to retrieve it.

Fluid level (ISO-32 hyd oil) should be at, of near the now open hole.
