Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Not sure if I mentioned it in here before but a while back we went to look at a neighbor who had a car for sale. An old chevy and some sort of crown victoria. When we got there it turned out to be a 55 crown vic and a 50 chevy 2dr fastback in a billion pieces. Well at the time he only wanted to sell the 50 and its not really worth much in that condition. Well sat he called again and said his wife wanted the cars out of the garage and we ended up with both. eric wissing Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 The 56 Ford looks pretty nice. I was always a fan of them. What are you going to do them? Eric Quote
Guest jtw3749c Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Real nice find! The 55,6 & 7 were the only fords that I ever liked. They had some class. My very first car was a 55 Ford. I have a friend that makes new after market castings for the Ford "Y" blocks, if you need anything. Seen a ton of new water pumps. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Will be in touch if we need anything. Car almost ran today but the fuel pump was toast. Suspect that may be why it was parked. Engine turns out to be a 54 239. More then likely these 2 will be fixed up some and sold after the funs over. After all they aren't mopars! Quote
Dennis_MN Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I owned a '55 Victoria Sedan, three toned paint. That was the most miserable starting car that I've ever owned. This was the last year for the 6 volt system and with that large V8 it had a devil of a time turning it fast enough to start. If I would have kept it I would have converted it to 12 volts like the '56 came with. Didn't see you saturday at the Mopars at the Park, you must have been buying Fords. Dennis Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Ya I missed Mopars in the Park yet again. Seems to be a track record of rainy days that weekend. I haven't brought a car there in years cause it gets too crowded. Last time Dad and I brought his convert down and were directed into the line to get in by a worker. Well he directed us in front of other cars that were waiting. Some other guy got really ticked! Well that was the last time either of us brought an old car into that show. Perhaps when it moves to the new spot I will try again. Turns out the 55 has a 54 engine. Fuel pump should be in at the store tonight and then we'll try to get it going again. BTW no ford and chevy buying happened until sunday Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Ed, I would fix that Ford up and keep it. Those are sharp cars when done in original or custom. All you need to do to have a really neat custom on that one is lower it on all four evenly, add some full length drag pipes and a pair of Merc cruiser skirts and you've got a really neat custom. And almost forgot!! A pair of fuzzy dice hanging on the rearview. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Norm look closer the dice are already there. Ok so you can't see them because of the big B pillar but they are already in there. And the cruiser skirts are hanging on the wall in his garage. Will be getting those next trip down to haul more stuff. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Ed, I'll take your word for it. I still do not see the dice. I don't even see the reaview mirror from the angle the car is sitting. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Ya I looked back and you can't see them. The picture I took from the front you cant see them either because the windshield is too dirty! Poor car. Will have to take a few better shots tonight when we are working on it again. Quote

I can remember a couple of years ago you would have been all over the fuzzy dice thing in an instant. I think every member of the board should send you a pair for Christmas. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 Last night the Ford ran and drove on its own! Brakes are really bad but it does move. Here's a 10sec clip of it running on high idle. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/dads%20cars/?action=view¤t=261.flv Quote
