Don Coatney Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 First was a visit to a National meet for the early Ford V-8 (read flathead only here) club. Lots of high dollar cars at this show. I took several pictures and they can be seen at this link. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DonCoatney/Road%20trips%202004/2007%20road%20trips/All%20Ford%20Show/ I liked the V-8 powered tractor and the few V-12 powered Lincolns that were there. There were only a couple of dual carb engines with aluminum heads. I connected and spent some time with Jim Yergin at this show. Spoke on the phone with Rodney Bullock who did not make it due to high volumes of traffic in DC. Had to dry his tears as he was disappointed he could not make it. Next stop was the Manassas, Virginia Saturday afternoon cruise in. Found an old chevy with blue dot headlights pictured below. Only car of real interest was the (pictured below) hemi powered Dodge Lancer. Ed will like this car. I spoke with the owner and this is an original 78,000 mile car. Has a three on the tree with an overdrive transmission. I dont recall ever seeing a manual transmission behind an early hemi. Very nice car. The seats are original and the car was painted a few years back. Last stop was the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas. Best race was the legend cars. These are small cars with jalopy looking bodies powered by motorcycle engines. Twenty of these cars on a 3/8 mile track running 30 laps is exciting. Here is a link to the track. I did make a purchase while at this track of something I will need in Tulsa after the BIG RACE:cool: http://www.olddominionspeedway.com/OD_Speedway_Main.html Quote
Normspeed Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Great pics Don. That Lancer brings back memories, I had the same body and paint scheme but with a 6 and automatic back around 1969 in SoCal. Car was near perfect. Sadly I applied my youthful enthusiasm and kind of messed it up. (read butchered) Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 You are very right Don. I love that car. That's the non POS version of what I had. Mine was an auto though. I will get another one someday! Quote
eric wissing Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I too love that Lancer. Don, in the toolkit unrolled infront of the ford. What are the two items that look like stirrups? Great pics. Eric Quote
