Don, since 1987 I refill my 251 with 4 quarts imperial = 4,32 liters.Am I wrong?B3-B driver's manual says 5 quarts = 4,73 liters.

I would think it should be 5 quarts + filter. That seems to have been the norm.

Merle, I found now on page 18 of the driver's manual that:"ENGINE LUBRICATION,1.ENGINE OIL-(Refill capacity 5 qts.When changing filter element,add 1 qt)"

Tomorrow I will increase 0,4 liters.Thanks.

For many years in Canada it was always , 4 imperial quarts or 5 US quarts, add 1 quart for oil filter in US, and 1 imperial pint for Canada,. My Fargo 251 engine with oil filter takes almost 5 litres to full mark, with an oil filter in the equation.

According my WWII Jeep Willys 4qts(U.S) = 3 1/2(Imperial) = 3,78 liters.

If you convert 4 qts(Imp) =4,32 liters and 5 qts(U.S) = 4,725 liters.

They are differents.(0,4 liters)

For Engine:

4qts(U.S.S)-------3,78 liters

5qts(U.S.S)------- x

x=4,72 liters

For Oil Filter:

4qts(U.S.S)------3,78 liters

1qt(U.S.S)------- x

x=0,94 liter.

Total=4,72 + 0,94= 5,66 liters.
