Anybody ever use the rock auto Raybestos economy grade tie rod ends. Roberts and Bernbaums are out of stock for my 55 pickup, and may have to order these from Rock Auto..

They have the economy standard 16.79, or pro grade 37.00, like the economy price, but are they any good.....thanx aka Rockwood

I think you'll be further ahead getting the premium parts considering your roads and intended use of the truck.  Warranty on the premium is basically twice as long as the econo ones but most parts house will consider the premium as lifetimes and the econos as one year.  At least we do where I work.

Thanx Dave, went ahead and ordered the better grade part, hope it fits.....

Glad you got the better stuff! I always figure that if your life depends on certain things like steering, brakes, tires, it is best to get good quality. Cheaper stuff may be OK but I like the peace of mind that comes with getting good quality!

The economy grade was probably fine, but no doubt would wear faster, and be of a lower quality. Both are Raybestos, but made where????I am watching "Death By China" as I type this.

I have become a cheap sucker over the years, mitigating circumstances have been the driving factor....take care

according to my McQuay Norris catalog the tie rod end for your truck would be ES-158R and Es158L

1948 - 61 dodge c3b uses these tierods. I did a search on ebay with ES-158 and would a lot of ties rod for your truck.

This is why I collect the old catalogs and have then scanned onto CD's.

This is the information that you guys need to have to find parts for your cars/trucks.

the mopar number are 1238405 r es 158r 1238405 left es158l

The es158 was used from 1948-61 so I would think there would be a fair amount to be available.

Thanx Rich, Rock Auto is confusing, they list these Moog number for 1960 D100 ES158 Lor R, plus the Raybestos numbers I posted above. For 1955 Dodge trucks they only list the Raybestos numbers, and not the moog numbers.

I cancelled my order, thinking the parts are wrong. Going to order the part numbers you have posted today.....thanx fred

Today my Great Wife drove 80 miles to Pembina ND to pick-up parcels, included were items for Me. I ordered from Rock Auto, 2 tie rod ends for the 55 Fargo, they are Moog and made in the USA, hope they are, and hope they fit.

I also got park light lenses from Roberts, super nice glass repops, fit great and look nice too....... will install tie rod ends in the morning.....
