Jim Yergin Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 My driver's side running board rubber needs to be redone. Has anyone ever used the replacement rubber sold by Roberts Motors? Jim Yergin Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Not for running boards, Jim, but I've used their rubber for other things. I can't recommend it. A lot of the rubber I've gotten from them has started cracking already. I think Rodney Bullock did this not long ago. You might want to check with him. Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Rodney got all new boards and correct ruber on the boards from a company I think in Ohio. The cost of the boards and new rubber was about the same as if you sent Adoff Huxley in georgia and had them revalcanized on your original boards. I saw the pictures of the boards that Rodney got and they looked real good and he stated that they bolted right upto his frame without any major issues. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Yeah, I've seen them in person and they are really nice. Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Most of the mopar suppliers do not have the correct pattern for the runningboards. They sell a generic matting but they still need to be heat valcunized to really stay on the meatal. I would byt the set that Rodney used instead of going witht he total hassle of removing the old material sand lasing and then trying to get them to form to the correct patten. Also then you will have two different patterns on the car if you only do one side. I know cost is a big thing, but if you want to play sometimes we all need to pay. Rich HArtung Quote
Jim Yergin Posted October 1, 2013 Author Report Posted October 1, 2013 Joe,Thanks for the heads up on the Roberts' rubber. That was what I wanted to know. Rich,"to play sometimes we all need to pay." No problem if "we all" want to pay for my running boards but, as you said, cost is an issue if it is just me paying. Jim Yergin Quote
48ply1stcar Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 EBAY GUY IN MICHIGAN Has anyone purchased the door sill rubber from a guy in Michigan (Djyaz). I think that he sells new rubber without a backer. Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 Hi Jim, I have been looking for running boards for my 29 Plymouth and reproduction sill plates for the 48. I ran across this company but have not pursued a purchase. See link http://runningboardrubbermats.com/home.html Chet... Quote
desoto1939 Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 Jim Here is a link to the runningboards that our club member in MAryland used for his Plymouth. New metal and vulcanized matting for 575. I know my money and not yours. http://www.hotrodssuperstore.com/vulrunboar.html Rich HArtung Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Hi Jim, Rich that is the company that I used, The boards are very nice. Jim my running boards were in horrible shape. When they said they would make a board and cover it for 575.00 I jumped at the chance. Cost is a factor however I just saved some pennies and got them. I am so glad I did because they make the car look as good as it can. The paint, wheels and the boards are on the same level. The home made covers I had on there were starting to look bad. Quote

Seems like all the vendors of running boards all charge about the same price and seem to be the same product. If Buckeye Rubber isn't making them then they are probably getting them from the same place as everyone else. Quote
