pumppy10 Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I picked this tranny up in a deal from a guy, from what I can gather it came out of a 1950 ply. deluxe. the numbers are as follows, on gear box- 1139152-9, on tail shaft 1138238-5. I thought it was just the standard 3 speed, but today I noticed it has a much longer tail shaft, it this maybe an overdrive set up? Quote
martybose Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Definitely not an OD setup; it doesn't have any of the external OD parts. Marty Quote
pumppy10 Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 yea I see what ya mean, I do not know these old trannys, after a closer look i'm thinking 4 door with the longer wheel base. Oh well, one can hope, lol Quote
48ply1stcar Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) Looks like a pretty standard 3-speed. First I'll assume that whatever is under it isn't part of the transmission. It's missing a shift lever. I hope this pic is clear enough for you to see. Edited August 25, 2013 by 48ply1stcar Quote
rumble48 Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Noticed the speedo output is on the opposite side from my 48', is that a clue, do they vary by model/year? craig Quote
plyroadking Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 If you clean it off where i circled it there should be a date stamp on it. Quote

james curl Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I take it that you have a business coupe which is a short wheelbase car and uses a different transmission, it shares the transmission with another Plymouth body style and I can not remember which one but some one here will reply with the other body style.. Steel wagons, 2 dr sedan(fastback) and business coupe are all short wheel base cars. Quote
