Hey guys, recently acquired a 1953 1/2 ton that had this heater. It is not the mopar unit I've seen in other trucks, so is it an off brand? The two triangular doors open to allow heated air into the cab.  Any help in identifying it would be helpful. Thanks, Gary

hmmmm never seen one like that. Id search for vintage car heaters on ebay, may be able to see something similar with a description. Do you know if it works?

I don't know if it works, the truck is not running and am in the process of trying to start it. The PO says it ran when they parked it 28 years ago. It has the blower motor in it and the heating core. We'll see.

A picture of the firewall may tell if it is a factory option. Any extra holes? The fire wall behind it does have the same shape as the heater though. On the other hand if it works you have a heater.

Many vehicles of this era left the factory without a heater as they were frequently an option. So the market was flooded with aftermarket heater manufactures and many dealers bought and installed these aftermarket heaters. Arvin is ons such company. There may be a manufactures tag or label on the bottom of the heater or possibly inside the case. You may find this label should you remove and disassemble the heater. My dad worked in the radio design area of Arvin when I was born.
