Hey all was watching a 50 Chevy with either a 261 or 235, drag racing, 13 second car at 95 mph, that is impressive.

Any ideas what a Mopas flat head 6 might be able to pull on the 1/4.

Here is a you tube link,

The link below will give you some times from members that have ran theres on the track. This could be fun if organized. Just have everyone take a run and post a pic of their car on the track and the time slip. Set up some classes and at the end of summer see who has bragging rights. Even some of our members across the ponds may be able to participate. Any thoughts? Good idea bad idea. For the members close to the same track they could meet and run the same day.

Back in the early 60s I'd run my '55 Plymouth 4 door flathead 6 with a powerflite. Seems like my times were between 20 and 21 seconds at about 60 mph. No, not a record setter, but remember what it is!

Hi, sure you had a blast doing it too.

I am quite impressed with the Chebby 6s, and the slant 6 can be made to go too...

When I ran the convert at the HAMB drags in 05, my top speed on my best run was like 57 mph......time was 20-something.

But, I didn't jam it on takeoff as I didn't want to break anything related to clutch or transmission.

Maybe with pushing a bit harder, I could have hit low 60s mph.

Surely there's something hopped up that goes faster.

I don't think this one is a flathead six though.......

Hi Bob, as much as I love the Moparf Flathead 6s, they are no match for a hopped up Chevy 6 or the slant 6...

Mine would probably take a day and a half in the 1/4... I can only push it so fast... on the rare occasions it deigned to run, 50 mph was flogging it for all it was worth. 3 speed and 4.78 rear gears can pull over a house, but they aren't fast at it.
