Joe Flanagan Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) I think I read somewhere that when installing the windlace you should leave a little extra where it meets the door sill because when it's installed, the sill is supposed to cover the windlace. Can anyone tell me if that's right or explain or--even better--post a picture of how things come together at that point? Thanks Edited February 16, 2013 by Joe Flanagan Quote
Young Ed Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 Joe do you have your rubber door sill mats? I believe they will have a little pocket at each end that will go over the end of the windlace. Quote

Thanks Joe just leave an extra 3-4 " laying on the floor flat until installing sill plates, then cut to fit to tuck under sill plates. I made my own sill plates of steel as i could not afford Steeles Rubber sill plates at $400 + front/back a pair. Best to ya, man i can't belieive your working at those Virginia temps! Doug Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 17, 2013 Author Report Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks, guys. No, I don't have my sills in yet so I guess I'll just let the windlace run long at the ends. . I got my windlace from Perfect Fit. Nearly all of my tack strip is still good so I'm planning to re-use it. It's missing in some places so I got some extra from Restoration Specialties. I've got all the glass in except the back window. Got a drooping drivers door handle and I think it's the spring inside so tomorrow I'm going to see if I can transplant the spring from a spare latch mechanism I have. Not so bad out today though it did snow a bit. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low thirties. I always have to think of our friends from Canada and Finland, and places like that before I grouse about the cold. Quote
48ply1stcar Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Joe How did you attach the windlace below the dashboard to the floor in front? Also in back below the tack strip? The tack strip only goes to the floor at the B pillar. Can you share what you did with some pictures. Quote
