Don Jordan Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) I don't know why - is it just me? No one else seems to screw up like I do (or at least admit it). I have been trying to find rocker molding clips. There are so many different kinds. I bought the molding probably a year ago and didn't pay much attention to it. I took them in and had them professionally polished. Today I tried to figure out how to install the stainless - it is too small!!! What I bought is 72" - the same size as my 2 door sedan. I screwed up again. And I still don't know what the clips look like. My advice is don't buy used ones. I think I'm into old cars to punish myself. Edited December 6, 2012 by Don Jordan Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I have some rocker clips that are correct for a P15, far as I know. They measure 2 and 9/16 inches long. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 All the p15s use the same rocker moulding so are you sure they are P15?? Quote

Don Jordan Posted December 5, 2012 Author Report Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) See what I mean? There are different clips. I bought some once that I found were for a DeSoto. $159 does seem a little steep for the ones on e-bay. Another question: if I put my 72" rocker molding on e-bay what would be a fair price. I don't remember what I paid for them. Plus another $50 to have them polished. Nothing is ever easy. Edited December 6, 2012 by Don Jordan Quote

michael.warshaw Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 the clips on ebay are alsmot impossble to fuind the ones pictured in the previous post are for 4 models only. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 ye either pass..or pay to play..sad part is there are folks who will dropt he dime just to avoid the aggrivation of time lost in avain attemp to find them..so...if either is not really good for you..then this may be just the motivation you need to create your own mounting system..trust me..if someone gets down on their belly to look at these they are the proper position for a swift boot... BobT-47P15 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I have a pair of rocker trim for a P15........they are 72" long and 2 9/16" wide, outside edge to outside edge. Quote
Don Jordan Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 I have 2 that are 72" long but they are too short for the 4 door. They are a perfect match for the ones on my 2 door sedan. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) My parts manual shows the rocker mouldings (1149-182 for R) and (1149-183 for L) are used on all body styles...... This is how the trim mounts on a four door......stops before the rear fender, and does not go completely onto the front fender. A two door sedan..........trim fits the same way.......... Don Jordan Posted December 7, 2012 Author Report Posted December 7, 2012 BobT - YOU ARE RIGHT! I must have measured wrong. It's an optical illusion. 72" rocker molding does fit both the 2 and 4 door sedan. silly me Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Glad you now have that figured out. I didn't know if you had tried to put the trim on the 4 door or were placing it not quite correctly. .....it IS sort of an optical illusion. Well, anyway.......happy to be of help. Your car is looking good, like a P15 should. (Kinda sounds like an old time commercial doesn't it?) Quote
