pflaming Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) I was referred to a yard I was unaware of and found a set of four stock wheels for my truck. They are the wide ones so my set of tires will fit. I may not paint them, I may just put the truck in gear and put some sandpaper to them. Probably should bead blast the inside of the rim so I have a nice clean surface for the tire bead. This may interest some. I did not have my camera but he had one '55 dodge truck which has the over/under grill. I traded him three wheels for the grill a bargain for me. The wheels were worth nothing to me. BUT I am returning for the grill. There were at least 6 - 9 42-52 vintage mopars. One was nice 48+/- Chrysler and the others were coupes, two with the big rear end. Will take pictures when I return. I can make a third run for parts, the yard is about 20 minutes away,so will take lots of pictures. I should add that he has a number of 15" and 16" wheels, most without clips, all rusty like these shown. Some are narrow like the OE and some are wider. The wider ones fit very nicely over the new front disc brake calipers. Edited May 16, 2018 by pflaming Quote
HanksB3B Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Paul, Wow! Now see if you can find me 4 hubcaps like those and I'll be sooo thankful! Hank Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Paul, as you well know I'm still looking for an original interior division bar set up for a rear view mirror and the passenger side mirror for my truck. I'd ask you keep an eye out and know I'm good for the money if you get them! thanks! Quote
pflaming Posted November 30, 2012 Author Report Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) I've been on the watch for 15" stock wheels and a grill. Well got both, the wheels and tires are ON! Will look fine when I get the cap clips (got some?) and some paint. I got both grill bars, this one fits, the 2nd one is too longl, will need some surgery. Then I got a bonus a passenger side visor. I just quickly attached it, so it needs some adjustmen. One just has to be patient, it stalls the progress, but it's the less expensive way. Edited May 16, 2018 by pflaming Quote
HanksB3B Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 PF, How are you planning to treat those wheels? Beauty Rings and the hubcaps look too good! Hank Quote

pflaming Posted November 30, 2012 Author Report Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) If the four wheels were all that rusty brown, I would just lightly sand them and leave them, but two are rusty brown, one is a pea green, the other possibly a blue. I think I'm going to paint them a royal blue. Black looks good also but the royal blue matches the truck and has a bit of soft sophistication. I'm not sure what I will do with the grill. I may just lightly sand it and leave it. I think there is red under that rust. Will know more tomorrow. Edit: Ordered clips for the wheels, darn I just realized I ordered 20 and I only need 15, oh well, the spare wheel may need clips. So nice to know where to go, thanks Ed. pflaming Posted December 4, 2012 Author Report Posted December 4, 2012 Today I needed to push the truck back about three feet on a concrete floor. When I had the old 16" tires, they would always have a flat spot and one had to PUSH HARD. I have 15" radials on now, it pushed like it was down hill. Question: do the radials roll that much easier, evidently so. Quote
