ssdodge51 Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Anybody have a good source for the rubber ring that goes around the gas filler pipe and cab. I bought a new one from the guy on the east coast and it hasn't even lasted a year, it has cracked in many places and in half in one place, very poor quality. thanks Quote

Young Ed Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 I'm 99% sure the one for my 46 came from Roberts and has lasted 12 years and counting. Quote
MBF Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Ditto-I bought mine from Roberts and that was over 10 yrs ago. Still looks fine. Mike Quote
Flatie46 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Mine came from Roberts 8yr ago and has been out in weather ever since, no cracking. Quote
ssdodge51 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 Well, you guys must have gotten the good ones before I ordered mine because that is where mine came from and it is NOT good. Mine is 1 year and two months old and has never been outside one night since it was installed.... Quote

Mine is 1 year and two months old and has never been outside one night since it was installed.... I think the thing to remember about the rubber parts that are repops is they are (probably) made in small lots. I've gotten bumpers from Restoration Specialties that are the "same" part and have WIDE variations in durometer. One bumper ripped the nipple off trying to instal and it was hard as rock, while the other was soft and supple. I'm sure Gary would try to make it right somehow if you called him and explained. I've never had an issue w/ ANY of the suppliers we use if you just call them and talk to them. I've ALWAYS gotten parts to replace with at no charge that worked after a call. Quote
Flatie46 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 The quaility control may have dropped since I bought mine. Those darn 9yr old chinese kids, you'd think they'd turn out better for 30cents a day. No work ethic at all. Quote
