What maker or sellers do people like for the purchase of fog/driving lights ?

I have a set of NOS MOPAR fog brackets and want to get a set of lights. I would like to get new ones with both a set of clear and amber lens's or bulbs. Most of the time I would put the amber in, but if I were to make any kind of long trip :-) I would want the clear to add a little more light for nigh driving.

You have fog lights and you have driving lights..they ae not the same..it is the way the light is diffused from the lens that set these apart. You will need 4 units up front to have both. Unity and Dietz are the two more popular lamps. I believe in my opinion that the Dietz is all over the Unity in driving lights and the cut of the lens is the big difference. The Dietz will have 'driving' printed on the lens. The chrome housing are a higher quality also. Appleton is another brand name out there...to find period lights like these is not that hard but will come at a price..though dollar for dollar they are a great accessory...using "period" mounts make these babies really stand out from the so-so stuff of modern times.

You can still buy brand new Unity products. I don't know if Dietz is made any more. I have a pair of Dietz fog lamps including brackets that I haven't put on yet. No real driving need for them, just for looks. I bought them from a friend years ago still in the original box.

I bought me a couple of pairs old used Unity fog lights from ebay auctions past winter. Turned out th both had another sealed beam burned out. Lucky me the first pair were yellow and second clear light, thus I cannot use one for a spare to another...

Goes to show that a poor man cannot afford cheap deals...

However, I really like the looks of unity lights. I can use the better pair as dummy fogs - and nobody even notices they're fake unless I'd be drivin' in the fog!

Deitz had a factory here in Sryacuse. It closed about 10 years ago. I believe they are out of business. Although their products are still avaialble at swaps and flea markets. I have a pair of Dietz on the front of the Bizzy coupe, they are off my father's 37 Chevy. 6 V Amber GE sealed beam bulbs. Housings are pretty badly pitted, but they shined up OK from 5 feet. The work fairly well and are a great addition for night driving. They do suck some power though, the old amp gauge shows a discharge at idel with the low beams and fogs on. No problem at road speed. Fog lamps usually have a flat short beam for keeping reflected glare closs to the ground and out of your eyes. Driving lamps are typically slightly horizontally oval beams or thing pencil beams. For open road driving the ovals are probably the best.

Deals are still out there..I got two set of Dietz 510s very reasonable at a swap meet. My fog lights I bought for a few dollars also at a swap meet..no mounts..found a set of Unity on e-bay with two sets of brackets..one set has Mopar Logos..and the 3rd set of foggers were given to me, rough about the edges..so these I blasted and painted argent silver... Then this last swap meet I got a set of US 400 back up lights with mounts .....So go beat some bushes..the deals are out there...just gotta keep pluggin'

I am wondering, How many amps do those vintage lights draw?

Go to Unity's web site and that information should be there. If not check the bulb specifications. It should say how many amps the bulb pulls on the package or bulb.
