My tailight assemblies on the 2005 Caravan, have seperated lense from backing, full of gravel dust, 1 fell off today.

I dimantled both, cleaned off as much of the adhesive as possible, then cleaned all nice and purdy, and ued some adhesive and reinstalled the plastic outer lenses to the backings.

I have always cleaned and washed these lights, but notice them coming apart this summer.

The gravel dust combined with Magnesium Chloride, has done a real number on them.

Anyone else ever have this happen with any vehicle?

This is a 1st for me.

Some pics.

common problem..seems I never taken a road trip I do not see a couple of these along the road..sad for sure as these should not seperate..I check mine often but once a seams starts how fast it goes down hill is a guess..you have the effect of possive air pressure that increases as the gap grows and road speed increases also

I had an '89 & '94 Volvo wagon. Had issues with the tail light lenses falling off on both cars. Thankfully they were cheap to replace.

I have an '05 Caravan as well and one of my lenses is pulled away from the housing but is still firmly attached. It may have been re-attached before I bought the van.

I've been watching for spare taillights when I'm at pick-n-pulls and will buy them when I find nice ones. The 2005 Caravan takes a 2-bulb unit, and earlier ones took 3 bulbs. I don't think they are interchangeable.

Hmmmm........guess I better check the lenses on my 05 Caravan.

Seem OK so far.

Worst thing it's done lately is eat two rebuilt alternators from

O'Reillys. Now on the third one. Good thing I bought the one

with lifetime guarantee. Of course, my favorite shop charges me

$35 to remove old and replace with new.

Someone suggested that I might get better long term results by

taking one of those units to our local electrical shop and have them

"rebuild it right". Don't know what they charge for that.
