Don Jordan Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Give me a break! How many places can oil leak from? The engine has been rebuilt so it's spotless. I crawl under the car and can not see where oil is coming from. I thought it might be the fuel pump. I have an electric one. So I took the mechanical pump off and plugged the hole. Took it for a drive, drove it on the drive way and there were several drips. It doesn't seem to be using oil but there are the drops. I've gone under the car with a rag wiped it clean. Another drive up and down the street and a puddle. I get 40 lbs of pressure. There has got to be something I'm missing. Any advice - clues? thanks Quote
Harvey Tank Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 after I rebuilt my 218 on my P20 I had a leak like that and bout drove me nuts till I finly found it. it was leaking from around the oil filter. I didn't have the top screwed down tight. you might check that out. good luck. Quote

Also the draft tube or crank case vent on the passengers side near the rear of the block leaks on mine. Check that one too. Quote
greg g Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Did you over tighten and warp your valve galley cover plates?? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 get a plumb bob and see if you can find the actual point it is leaving the engine..mind you it may run down before it drips but this is your starting point..next you can tape a piece paper towel in various location to tell if high or low..before you can tighten, reseal or whatever you gotta know what you working with..if you suspect a gasket..wipe clean..put a paper towel there and see if it get wet..takes a bit of time but you will know for certain eventually Quote
Don Jordan Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 Excellent responses. I know it's going to be something little. I will go under the car and tighten, and paper towel. Thank you. There is so much experience on this forum. Quote
