Jeff Balazs
What is the best manual for these engines you have come across? I have a reprint of the Dodge truck shop manual that Roberts sells but I can't help thinking there must be a better one out there. Thanks for your input. Plymouthy Adams
not seen the inside but military manuals are pretty much in depth..you may want to look at this..then again..you may not...at least you would be looking.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-Military-Manual-Dodge-Truck-Eng-Clutch-TM-9-1808A-/310126667095?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4834fd6557
Jeff Balazs
Tim; Yes something like that might be good......the photos and illustrations in my reprint are pretty poor quality and some pages are put together out of order. I have seen a title: Chrysler Industrial engines....has anyone used this? I think VPW sells it. Jeff

Jeff that's available as a pdf download on the dpetca website, under "knowledge". search for it, and you'll find it. interestingly, on their home page, they have the acronym incorrectly spelled - where it says "welcome to DEPTCA - dodge pilot-house era truck club of america". should read DPETCA
Jeff Balazs
Wallytoo; Thanks for pointing that out. A quick look shows that it has some pretty decent images to go with the text....... and that helps quite a bit. Jeff
Rusty O'Toole
Original factory manuals from Chrysler are excellent and very complete.
HanksB3B
The one I had in my trunk the day I came to visit and wanted you to have copied. Now you'll have to drive over to my house. I can't afford the gas. Hank
Jeff Balazs
Thanks. Found what I needed. My engine is back together and just needs to be plumbed up and wired. Jeff
HanksB3B
Hi Jeff, Guessing your frame got straightened somewhere down the line. What did you do as far as the engine rebuild goes? Hank
Jeff Balazs
Hi Hank; Well it had been rebuilt and only run a short time (certainly less than 100 hours) so I cleaned the valve gallery and oil pan up (sludge no metal) and put it back together. There was literally no wear on the 40 bore. Only item that really needed replacing was the timing chain. I am pretty certain it will run fine. Will know in a month or so. The frame still needs attention but there is a frame machine across the street....just need to work a deal with the shop manager.
