Bingster Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Vintage Mopar Direct. They seem to have a lot of Mopar parts. Anybody use them? For example, do I resleeve my brake cylinders or get them from maybe this place? What I always wonder is does a place like Vintage Mopar have their own brake cylinders made or are they marketing the same ones as Kanter or Bernbaum and some of the other vendors who handle them? TodFitch Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Never noticed them before your post. I only see an eBay store, is there no "real" presence for them other than that? Looking at the product line I think you should be careful about the applicability they claim. For example they show a hydraulic kit for "1930-35" Plymouths with a master cylinder that won't fit the '30 model and wheel cylinders that won't fit any of them. Maybe the pictures are wrong and they actually tailor the kit to the vehicle you specify but I did not see that feature if it exists. Quote
Bingster Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 I asked the vendor about his parts - specifically the rubber and wheel cylinders - and this is what he replied: "Since there are only a handful of places that make the rubber it does not differ much if at all from other vendors it is oem like but i don't have any original to compare, the wheel cylinders are the same i would assume , as for the other parts you asked about i do not know of anyone who makes them." Bingster Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 You know, I asked him some pretty specific questions and his answer is rather vague. It doesn't sound like somebody who is trying to impress upon a potential customer that his products are better than the norm or are the highest quality. I told him I was going to resleeve my old cylinders but if his were unique to him and maybe better quality than other vendors I'd go with him. I guess another repackaging vendor on ebay. Quote
Andydodge Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 I'd be more inclined to resleeve your original cylinders in stainless or brass......have seen both used and they will never rust or pit again as far as I know.....original cylinders maybe great to have but they are still only cast iron and therefore prone to pit anyway.........andyd Quote

Looks alot like AndyB's stock. Correct me if I am wrong but the pictures are identical to new owners listings. eBay store: Vintage Mopar Direct http://stores.ebay.com/VINTAGE-MOPAR-DIRECT/Suspension-Axle-/_i.html?_fsub=2851937017 same seller, eBay name "mopardirectchris" http://www.ebay.com/csc/mopardirectchris/m.html?_ipg=50&_sop=13&_rdc=1 Edited April 3, 2012 by Roadkingcoupe Quote
Bingster Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 That's kind of what I was afraid of. I even looked at Bernbaum's web site to see if maybe Vintage Mopar was the new Bernbaum owner with the same parts! Quote
Bingster Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 Really? I was right. Very interesting! Quote
captden29 Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 Dorman makes very good wheel cylinders. a little pricey but worth the extra money. bernbaums will rust or leak in a very short time. of corse, re-sleeve in stainless is great, but i never checked the price for that. capt den Quote

No brainer. Quote
