Job~Rated Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Hi guys! I hope you're all well. I do lurk now and again, but don't get to post much these days. I need some help. The fuel sender has stopped working & after talking with the guys that built the truck, it would seem it's the original fuel tank and I'm guessing the original sender unit. I'm going over to take a look myself in the next few days & I'll see if I can take some pics. Does anyone have any idea where I could locate a replacement or if any other more readily available unit can be used as a substitute? Truck is a '52 B-3-B. Any help would be much appreciated. Quote
TodFitch Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Would this work for you: http://www.ply33.com/Repair/fuelsender.html Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 While looking for a replacement unit for my 1952 it was suggested by The Plymouth Doctor that I contact John Wolf about having it rebuilt. Here is the number I received if you want to call him. Contact John at: 440-942-0083 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I bought a replacement sender for my truck from Roberts Motor Parts. http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/truck_parts.asp?Action=search&t=&Search=&c=Trucks+%2D+Electrical+%26+Related+Parts&page=3 Item #T364 Merle Quote
roadworthy Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 What is the best way to check one of the 1-wire sending units to make sure it works? Mine looks to be in great shape, came with the tank I bought, but doesn't work... what should I be checking for? Quote
Job~Rated Posted February 8, 2012 Author Report Posted February 8, 2012 Many thanks for your responses. @Tod - if all else fails, atleast now I know that one can be adapted to fit. @plymouthcranbrook - I'm in England, so I'm gonna try and source what I need here first, but thanks for the details. @Merle - Hey there, fella! Hope all's well. Thanks for the Roberts link. I've got suspicions about this unit I'm after. When they originally customised the truck, a '70 Camaro was used as the donor car. I'm wondering if they used the Camaro tank & sender... I'll get some pics up & hopefully you guys could confirm, because frankly, I don't know what the bloody hell I'm looking at. Quote
Job~Rated Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Well, I was right - it's all Camaro & the sender is the non-return type - gonna cost me over $100 for a replacement including shipping. Better save some pennies. Hope you're all well - sorry for my absence. Life doesn't half get in the way sometimes. Quote
