I spent this morning trying to figure out why I couldn't get the Plymouth to turn over. It's been an off-and-on problem over the last few months. I'd been messing around a lot with my ignition switch, trying to get it to stay in the dash, so I figured I'd worked some connections loose.

I couldn't figure out why, with the key in the off position, I had 6 volts to the switch but with the key in the on position, I had no more than a half a volt on all terminals that were supposed to be getting power.

Under the dash I went with my volt meter. With the key off, 6 volts everywhere. With the key on, 1/2 volt even coming into the ammeter.

I got under the hood. With the key off, normal power to the starter relay. With the key on, 1/2 volt. I went to the battery. 6 volts across the terminals. But only 1/2 volt between the cables. Huh?? I double checked. Could it be? Yes. Dirty battery posts. I wire brushed them and it starts like a charm.
