Carburetor of choice for dual setup

In the old days you used the carb the car came with and bought another to match it. This is good sense, as the carb is already jetted for your engine.

These days a lot depends on what is available and what you want to do. If you are not into the whole nostalgia thing you can buy brand new Holley/Weber progressive 2 barrels and have the equivalent of a 4 barrel carb.

I'm running dual Carter Webbers. Took them out of the box and bolted them on and it ran great.

I agree. Over the years I have tried experimenting with rejetting to try and improve them, but always wind up going back to the as-delivered setup.

When using the dual offy intake do you have to upgrade to the headers, or will the new intake work with the old exhaust manifold?

Dual carbs are pretty much a waste of money unless you do other things to improve breathing like dual exhaust with a split manifold or headers and hotter cam.

Based upon my personal experience, the testemony of several other forum members will verify from expereince driving my car, I will disagree with you. My dual carbs low restriction muffler and milled head made considerable difference in the performance, driveability and economy of my car.

Upon what experience do you base your opinion?

You are right on Greg.....Put dual B&B on my 218 and it was day and night difference, especially bottom end torque...

as for exhaust I recommend headers.....I found the carbs got to hot from the stock exhaust heat riser...I went with Reds Headers and Offy manifold
