47heaven Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Just curious to know if this is something that's supposed to happen or not... At night when I'm driving, I noticed that the lights from the dash also reflect light down onto my feet and legs. Is this always the way it's been or was there some kind of "light block" to keep this from happening? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Sounds like you may have a bulb that is out of socket yet still making ground.. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 The dash light bulbs go into holes in back of the gauge cluster. Should not be illuminating your tennis shoes. The sockets have those little tabs all around the edge to secure them in the holes. Quote
47heaven Posted April 17, 2007 Author Report Posted April 17, 2007 Thanks, guys. I went under the dash today and saw that all the lights were in their sockets. Where the light is coming from is the radio face. If you recall, I had mentioned sometime back about getting rid of the old radio, but keeping the face portion that houses the dial, buttons and light. Needless to say, I totally forgot about putting something behind it to encase it. So that's where my extra source of light is coming from. Quote
greg g Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 My lamp for the ignition switch leaks a little bit and throws a bit of light on the floor. Speaking of lamps, anybody remember the number for the brighter bulbs tha fit in the dash????? Quote

Speaking of lamps, anybody remember the number for the brighter bulbs tha fit in the dash????? From the main site. I think this is what you are looking for. He uses #81 bulbs instead of the standard #55 miniature bulb. The #55 has a brightness around 3 candle power compared to the #81 with 6 candle power. The #81 bulb really lights up the gauges and speedometer and heat generation seem about the same Quote
