Charles Furman Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 My 1948 B1B108 Woodie is going into the San Diego Auto Museum for 4 months early next year and they are asking for a ton of info about the vehicle. I can give them almost everything they want to know, but I am not sure what the compression ratio or the torque numbers are for the 218 L-head engine. Can somebody help me with these two bits of info. Thanks, Charles Quote
Charles Furman Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 If anyone cares, the Compression Ratio for the 1948-49 B1 Series 218 c.i. engine is 6.6:1 and the Max Torque is 172 lbs @ 1200 rpm. Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Interesting Charles. I wonder what those numbers looked like in 1959....the last year for the L-6 in trucks ? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Interesting Charles. I wonder what those numbers looked like in 1959....the last year for the L-6 in trucks ? That would be 1960 for trucks 59 for cars. Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 That would be 1960 for trucks 59 for cars. I'll correct myself too. Actually some Power Wagons into the late 60's had an L-6 Quote
pflaming Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Charles: I'd love to see pictures of your woodies. Near you at the Laguana Beach Hilton is a perfect 41 Ford woodie. It sits out front most of the time. I'm sure your aware of it. I also appreciate your and others input to us who are novices at this. My project has slowed down but not dead. I copy and paste a lot of responses and use them when I work. Merry Christmas to all. PF Quote
