Roadkingcoupe Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Here are a couple of pictures of the 1941 Plymouth Panel Delivery. Unusually warm and pleasant November weather...sailing on Friday and photo shoot of the Panel on Saturday on its way to storage. note: the dash is not wood grained because it is a commercial vehicle. The heater control box is missing one knob The starter pedal needs to be tack welded back on And for the sharp eyed forum members: the dash has the P12 radio bezel which was an option available in 1941 as was the optional passenger seat. The lighter is out of a 1941 Chrysler car (because I like it better then the original Bakelite/plastic original). Nice rare truck! Quote
oldmopar Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 That is a nice truck it would look good in my garage Quote

RobertKB Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 That is a truly beautiful vehicle. And and added bonus......it is redone in basically original condition and not hot rodded as so many of these great old vehicles are! Congratulations! Quote
1941Rick Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 One other thing I noticed is the rear bumper is mounted upside down vs the car....beautiful vehicle.. Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 One other thing I noticed is the rear bumper is mounted upside down vs the car....beautiful vehicle.. The Plymouth Panel Delivery is based on a Car chassis and actually uses the front end and front doors from a sedan. It is more of a factory converted Sedan then a truck. The 1941 Panel was the last Panel delivery made by Plymouth and differs from the Dodge Panels of the same era which were based on truck chassis'. This particular vehicle has been restored to Original with the exception that it has been "gussied" up to represent a "P12" treatment. All of the car accessories were available as optional equipment (although I doubt many were "dressed up" to this extent). In the case of the rear bumper "wings" the bumper is "right side up" and the bumper wings were flipped upside down to allow the rear doors to open. I actually like the way the upside down bumper wings look, including the way they frame the exhaust pipe. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I have a friend here in town with a 40 panel delivery that is almost the same color but doesn't have the outside spare. JohnS Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted November 12, 2011 Author Report Posted November 12, 2011 I have a friend here in town with a 40 panel delivery that is almost the same color but doesn't have the outside spare. JohnS The 1940 Plymouth Panel truck also had the exterior side mounted spare. They are often missing and the "cradle" mounted on the runningboard that holds the spare is often missing as well. Quote
Mark D Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 Very cool truck/car... Wish there where more to be had. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 The 40 delivery that my friend has is missing the outside spare and cradle. Everything else seems original except he installed a later engine with a powerflite transmission. The engine has a dual exhaust and 2 barrel carburetor. JohnS Quote
