Is this possible? i know it would still have to be + ground, but is there a good resistor to handle the step down?

Unless you like to pick fruit there isn't much music on AM radio these days. I paid good money to have my 52 Chev radio converted to 12 volt, and after I tried to find a good AM station I gave it up and bought a motorcycle amp and now I use my MP3 player that's loaded with 2000 Doo Wop favorites. Sure beats AM.

Being the cheap a__ that I am, I gutted my old radio, installed a modern radio inside it and put the speaker grille on a hinge. Origional dial there and lights up, knobs there and buttons there. Almost can't tell the difference. If you pull the top of the speaker grille it hinges foward showing a modern radio. I already had the new radio and speakers so the whole project cost me about 30.00 and some time.

I have a friend that bought a 8 track that mounts under the dash at a swap meet for 5.00 and did basically the same thing. Mounts nicely under the dash of his 60 Cad. Looks like it belongs there too.

Just listen to the style of music that's most played on AM. I'm being PC here.

Here's the way I added music to my car, it was cheap to do. I bought a $20.00 motorcycle amp off ebay and made some kick panel speakers and hooked in my MP3 player. I have over 2000 songs and FM radio to. Cost not including labor, Amp $20.00, speakers from the swap meet $15.00, MP3 player $50.00. I think that adds up to $85.00. If you modify your stock radio it will only give you mono replay. And you don't have much output power. I paid close to $200.00 to have my stock 52 Chev radio converted to 12 volt and had the MP3 jack installed but it just wasn't great so I went with the current set-up for less than half the cost and twice the preformance. Just to let you guy's know from my experence.
