Young Ed Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Niel is right. However I heard someone mention that the other 46-48 mopar electric wiper setups will fit as long as you grab the mounting bracket and motor. I intended to try that this summer but I have yet to make it to a junkyard to find a donor for the parts. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Just in case you might want to get a vacuum wiper motor rebuilt, here's a very good place to do it..........Ficken Wiper Service. http://www.wiperman.com/ Quote
Solution 1948Skip Posted October 10, 2011 Solution Report Posted October 10, 2011 Good morning Fellas, Yes the electric wiper motor from a D-24 will fit into the P-15. I did this swap back in the late fifties. I had a 1947 P-15 sedan while my father had a 1946 Dodge sedan that he was in the process of scrapping. I removed the wiper motor, arms and switch and put them into the P-15. What a differance this made when going up hill. And if I remember correctly it was a bolt in swap. 1948Skip 1 Quote
White Spyder Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Chrysler's of that year have electric motors. Quote

randroid Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 '47 2 Door Coupe, Welcome to the forum. I have a '48 more-door and was able to pick up a '51 Dodge for a parts car back in the early '90s when I was new at this and didn't know the differences. The car was great but I didn't need it and took the electric w/w mechanism and the hood ornament and was able to sell it for what I paid for it. The hood ornament I eventually put on my wife's 2004 Dodge Stratus and the wiper motor got plugged into place but I had two problems with it; the cars are different widths so the wiper arms are different lengths. The ends are different so you'll need to Jerry-rig something there. The vacuum motor isn't very wide and fits between the cowl and the cowl vent mechanism but the electric setup is chubby so your in for another project with that. I still have my electrics but run the vacuum so I can use the vent. If you get enough spare parts and spare time I'd try it again but it will most easily done with the dash removed. -Randy Quote
