Rodney Bullock Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Well I got some gaskets in the maul friday and AJ and I Used the copper seal and put the back plate gasket on the water pump then used a felpro water pump to block gasket and put everything back on the 40. I let it dry for a day and this morning took my dear wife to the market;) no leaks while she was in a store at the mall I adjusted the flap in the carb and now the thing is running 70 with no hesitation at all. It's sad because now there is nothing wrong with the car at all. I even got the timing set. The car starts on a half revolution. I will be putting it back in the garage now and I'll bring my truck up. Sad day though I got used to it being here all the time even though it was....Broken:cool: Thanks fpor all the help from you guy's Ilearned alot and I am back working on my cars again...I got rusty:o Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Sad day today? I thought you were going to say the gas station was out of twinkies. That would be a sad day. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Or the Gas Station was out of Moon Pies and Cheer Wine! Quote
randroid Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Rodney, Don't listen to them for they're only making light of your dismal situation. I shall commiserate with you in this, your darkest hour. Next time I walk outside and kick Pigiron I shall do so in your name. -Randy Quote
littlemo Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Or "Twizzlers"!! Don't forget Twizzlers !!! lolo, Cass.... Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 19, 2011 Author Report Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) There was radio a man that use to say "now for the rest of the story" I have been contemplating this for the past month. There is a guy I have been talking to that wants to trade his 33 Plymouth coupe for my coupe. The car he has is a street rod and he wants to trade up. I told him that when I got my car right we would get together and "make the deal" I will have to call him tomorrow. his my friends is the rest of the story and why this is a sad day. Jim Yergin Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 So Rodney, what are the details on the '33? Color, drivetrain, interior, etc. Jim Yergin Quote
RobertKB Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 If you trade, I hope he won't rod your sweet original coupe. It's nice to have some original cars in this world of "personalized" rods. Another '41 Plymouth coupe with a 350/350 would be a shame. Your cars but just my two cents worth. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Paul Harvey dont always know the rest of the story. You best keep your pilgrum. What ever will you tell the show girls when they want your car for a Hollywood photo shoot? If you like I will call your wife and tell her you cannot trade your car. I might do that even if you dont like. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Keep the 40 Rodney. My 2 cents. Tom Quote
tinlizzy Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Cheerwine, now those were the days. Can't get it every where you know. Have to drive over to Salisbury one of these days and see if the plant is still there. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Say it ain't so, Rodney. You already have a street rod. Quote
40phil41 Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Rodney, how could you even consider the trade? You may recall that when you were restoring the Plymouth I was about 6 months behind you with my '40 Dodge. It was great learning from your mistakes . There is no way that I'm going to trade my '40 either in 6 months or ever! You will regret it down the road. Just my 2 cents worth. Phil Quote
Tom Skinner Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 TinLizzy, The Cheerwine Plant is still there in Salisbury NC., its about a 20 minute ride from my house. They still sell Moonpies and Cheerwine around here. Tom Huntersville, NC Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 I met with the guy and we had lunch talked for a good while about cars, clubs and life. We went out to the cars and was ready to make the switch and....... tune in torrow same mopar time ...same mopar channel:mad: Quote

Tom Skinner Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Holy Moonpies Batman, (will our cape crusaders make it to the Cheerwine Isle before being inebriated?) or go over the Cliffs without a deal? Tune in tomorrow - same Bat Time - same Bat Channel!!! Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 When we last saw our coupe crusader it was being traded like a old baseball car. The deal was struck and the titles were ready to be signed....however it seems the 33 Plymouth will not start. What's wrong I said emotionally:rolleyes: 20 min. later the roll back came and away the car went . So glad we met each other half way. That could have ben me stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere with a car I didn't build so ...hi ho hi ho it's to home I go he brough his car but didn't get far hi ho hi ho:cool: close call no more horse trading for me. Rodney Bullock Posted September 23, 2011 Author Report Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) I got some footage of the 40 coming back from the no sale. The guy called me however I am no longer interested. The problem was his pick up coil was bad. Edited September 24, 2011 by Rodney Bullock Quote
Jim Yergin Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Rodney, I enjoyed the ride as well as seeing such atypical D.C. traffic. Wish it was like that all the time. Thanks for posting the vidoeo. Jim Yergin Quote
PatS.... Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Rodney, the old '40 is trying to tell you something. I would have a real hard time lettin' it go but glad you dodged the bullet on this one! Quote
