55 Fargo Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Okay was out in the neighbourhood, and found this, I knew where it was for years. An old 40s Dodge military truck, with the dump box taken off. The owner who is 85, and has a number of vehicles around his property, said it ran well, and He parked as the others about 20 years ago. Even has wild currants growing out of it. At least it's not china metal yet. Some pics Quote
randroid Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Fred, Is that another project we smell smoldering in the distance? -Randy Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Posted September 17, 2011 Fred,Is that another project we smell smoldering in the distance? -Randy Nope, as just down the road, is another potential pipe dream, a 40s or 50s Dodge Power Wagon panel ambulance. I could not get pics, as the owner wasn't home, and the German Shepard, was afraid of me. I honestly was thinking about projects today, I have my 47, she is not finished, it needs front window rubber, headliner and windlace, the backseat to trunk seperation panel. Now my plan is to get that done this winter, my bumpers, chrome trim, and stainless, all need work. My problem is not motivation, time is there, but the cash definately is not. I still have the 55 Fargo Chassis, now I either recreate that truck, or sell the chassis, the engine, trans, diff, and suspension are very good. I also am very interested in a Buddys 36 International 1/2 ton, that one is super complete, engine spins too, and it isa good looking truck. But I do not want multiple projects that never get finished, so what do ya do, being in the country on a gravel road, I should have an old truck.... Quote
RobertKB Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Fred, you NEED an old truck. The '36 International sounds like a great project. You are like me, one project at a time but there is nothing wrong with picking up a future project........for the future. Go for it!! Quote

randroid Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Larry, Sounds as though Fred's going to keep it for himself because everybody knows there are only eleven trees in Kansas, not one of which is likely growing through an old truck. I'd say keep working him. -Randy Quote
knighthawk Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 well, you're both kinda right,,here in south east kansas there is a lot of trees, there is very few left with ''good'' stuff around them , getting hard to find. I always love to come down to the lower 48, althought it has been a couple years, need a passport, or enhanced drivers license, of which I should acquire. I have probaly been to at least 30 of the lower 48 states, over the years, and someday plan to see all... Quote
