maurice wade Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Just bought a set of the swan mirrors, they look great! The mirrors seem to be of good quality. They are made of heavy material, and seem to have good chrome. I like the way the round mirror tightens down to the arm, not like the cheep clamp on's. Does anyone have any suggestions on where and how to mount this mirror on a 47 Ply? Quote
randroid Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Maurice, There's been some discussion about their placement here on the forum but I seem to recall it was the after product of other threads and I don't have a clue how you would search for it without gleaning dozens of pages, none of which would be right to the point. The gist of the responses trend toward getting the passenger-side mirror set so the driver can actually use it without obstructing the wing window then matching that position on the driver's side. -Randy Quote
maurice wade Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 Yes, I will be careful about the location of the mirrors, as to when the holes are drilled one will have to live with it. My wife has already cautioned me about drilling the holes. Has anyone drilled these holes fo r this type of mirror. any suggestions. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 I put the SoCal swam mirrors on my car. Get a buddy or the wife to hold the mirror on the door while you sit in the drivers seat. Check the vent windows etc. You can tape off an area where you think the mirror will be and then when its right trace the mirror outline onto the tape. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 use the good blue painters tape and prevent scratching the paint while testing for proper application spot...once located where you want them, again mark the tape..use of an automatic center punch will set the mark..use a small drill to start a pilot hole...DO ensure if there is beltline moling or even the rocker molding below the area to tape to prevent the shavings from catchng in the small crack..these will eventually rust and stain the area with oxide..
