ggdad1951 Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Tom at Adelmann engines redid the pedals and shaft for Dads 40 truck. shaft is fine, you'd think he'd just be able to do the pedals w/o the shaft? Quote
Young Ed Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Quite possible if you've got the specs/ Quote
maverick Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 i got mine from vpw. i had to order two of the bushings that go on the other end of the clutch fork and they fit great. Quote
John-T-53 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Right...VPW is the source for these. Check this out: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=17942 Quote
HanksB3B Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) Mine are o.k., but I wish I had done that about here: Oh well, Hank P.S. Is it still within reason to replace them in the truck by hopefully just removing the floorboards and unbolting them from the shaft? I have the darnedest squeeks that I believe are coming from how one part of the floorboard bolts/fits into each other an how they mount to the cab. I want to use some sort of single side sticky tape maybe bithuthane or maybe building paper. Anyone know what I'm talking about and have some suggestions? Thanks Edited August 22, 2011 by HanksB3B Quote
John-T-53 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Hank - Yes. There have been some posts way back that told of removing the column, jacking up the cab, etc to remove both pedals, but it can be done with less dissassembly. The brake pedal is the bugger. Remove floor boards, clutch pedal, trans, clutch, and clutch pan. Remove the grease fitting on the R end of the shaft, and the 2 bolts holding the shaft in place, then you can wiggle the shaft, brake pedal up at an angle and drop the shaft out the bottom of the bellhousing. Then the brake pedal drops out free. It's a tight maneuver but I've done it twice now. Dropping the tranny sucks, though. Quote
HanksB3B Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Dropping the tranny sucks, though. In another thread there are some issues that could use improving and they could all happen some fine day. Floorboard anti-squeak of some sort, a tranny gasket a NOS TO bearing and return spring are in the mix. Thanks John, doing things twice does suck, but third time is a charm (especially in wives for me anyway) Hank Quote
