RobertKB Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 I have recently finished a repaint on my '48 Dodge D25 (same body as P15). I painted my rims at the same time and lost the pinstriping on them. I had done the pinstriping on them myself many years ago and had three stripes on them all the same width. I know that there were three stripes on the rims but I believe that the centre stripe was wider than the other two. My question is.......does anyone have a picture of an original rim or a correctly repainted one. I had pictures of some original rims I sold but I must have deleted them. Any help appreciated. I just find the pinstriping adds a nice final touch. Quote
Jim Yergin Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Robert, This site provides information on width and location of the wheel pinstripes on a P15 http://www.oldmopar.com/oldmopar/colorchart.html It states that the middle stripe is wider than the two outer stripes. Hope this helps. Jim Yergin Quote
randroid Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Robert, If I can find my stupid camera I have an original with good stripes and I'll post a picture, but I recall a few years ago a thread about them that included widths of the stripes (they're not the same), diameters and spacing. Not a clue what to search under but you could check around and maybe luck onto it. -Randy Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 hello Robert, this is not P15 but an original P10 rim, it is the way you said, 3 stripes and the inner one is the widest. maybe they were the same later on...? hope that helps... best, Fred Quote
RobertKB Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) Thanks, Jim, that is perfect. It looks like I should be going with white stripes but I believe I will go with silver which is what I did them before. I also believe they made an error stating the middle stripe should be 1/4". I believe it should read 1/8" or double the width of the other stripes. 1/4" is just too wide. Randy, I would certainly appreciate a picture if you can manage it. Between the two, you and Jim, I should be able to get it right. I have a pinstriper lined up who can do a great job as he did the ones on my '38 Chrysler. The placement of the stripes on it are very different than on a '48 though. Fred, yours is helpful also but I believe it is a 16" rim and the placement of the stripes is slightly different. The three stripes themselves look right though. I appreciate the picture. Thanks again. Edited August 8, 2011 by RobertKB Quote

Rollie Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Original pin-stripping on my P23. I can provide more pictures and/or measurements if you'd like. Quote
bamfordsgarage Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Good morning Robert Here is the stripe pattern on my original '47 D25 16" rims. The outer stripes are just over 1/16" wide and the middle one is dead on 1/8". Of particular interest, perhaps, is the colour — my stripes appear silver, not white. You mentioned that you preferred the silver even though it is not original — perhaps it was factory original on at least some of the Canadian cars. Quote
