Hello All. Is there a way to tell what is the original color on my 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4 Door Sedan? There are I.D plates inside the front door and another with numbers on the firewall.

yup....The tag's first three digits indicate model/body style, followed by sequential body style.

nothing about paint color.

The tag on the firewall on my 39 Desoto Indicates a paint color and also an interior fabric type.

on the second line is 507 - 677

The 507 refers to piant coloor Gray this is taken from the paint chip list

677 is taken from the parts manual in section group 23 under trim material

I have no I.D. plates on my '41 Plymouth that indicates paint color but the build sheet I got from Chrysler includes the paint color. I think the info on sending for the build sheet is on the main section of this site.

what color is the firewall. If the car has not been totally repainted the firewall may be original paint.

Or - under some rubber strip, or under the fenders or any out of the

way places someone may not have messed with the original color.
