I am just wondering if anyone on the forum have a good used or extra new filler neck grommet which goes between the filler neck and the rear fender. When I ordered all the rubber I would need for the repaint of my '48 Dodge I forgot to order one of these. I have checked the usual rubber suppliers and cost is around $8.50 for a new one (Steele is $33) but they all want a minimum $20 to $25 for shipping to Canada. It seems crazy to pay that kind of shipping for a light round piece of rubber worth no more than 30% of the shipping cost. I ship lots of car parts south of the border and know shipping on small items like that is in the $5 range. I know you gotta "pay to play" and I understand they have expenses, but it seems a bit exhorbitant.

So.....anyone out there got a good used or a spare new one? I will pay you what you paid or want and also the shipping/handling. Please PM or email me.

Hi Robert - I was just about to order one for my 50 Plymouth - if you want - I can order 1 for your car and charge you the 8.50 for the part plus tax and shipping. If you're interested - you can PM me.

OK, problem solved. I am going to go with Neil Riddle. His grommet is a bit more money but shipping is $4.00. He sure is a great guy to deal with. Thanks for the reminder, Don.

Lefebvre, I really appreciated the offer and would have gone that route if Neil Riddle had not been so reasonable. Thanks again!

This forum is great!!

OK.......here's a gas tank grommet question.......some seller on ebay

advertises two different sizes (diameter) of grommets. Can't find his

ad right now to see the size choices. So, which would be right for a Pl5?

Bob,

It's been so long since I've had the locking gas cap off Pigiron that it wouldn't budge, but as close as I could get through "eye-ball interpolation" makes the OD of the neck 2 5/16", give or take 1/16.
