RobertKB Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I am just wondering if anyone on the forum have a good used or extra new filler neck grommet which goes between the filler neck and the rear fender. When I ordered all the rubber I would need for the repaint of my '48 Dodge I forgot to order one of these. I have checked the usual rubber suppliers and cost is around $8.50 for a new one (Steele is $33) but they all want a minimum $20 to $25 for shipping to Canada. It seems crazy to pay that kind of shipping for a light round piece of rubber worth no more than 30% of the shipping cost. I ship lots of car parts south of the border and know shipping on small items like that is in the $5 range. I know you gotta "pay to play" and I understand they have expenses, but it seems a bit exhorbitant. So.....anyone out there got a good used or a spare new one? I will pay you what you paid or want and also the shipping/handling. Please PM or email me. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Did you check with Neil Riddle? I believe that is where I bought one several years back. Quote
Lefebvre Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Hi Robert - I was just about to order one for my 50 Plymouth - if you want - I can order 1 for your car and charge you the 8.50 for the part plus tax and shipping. If you're interested - you can PM me. Mike Quote
roadworthy Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 http://www.oldmoparts.com/b.htm They have a flat rate 15% of the order shipping charge, although I'm not sure about it to Canada. I have Canadian motorcycle buddies ship stuff to me then I send it US Postal to them for way less. I have also shipped overseas to save my international friends some money. Quote
greg g Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Looks like one was included in the stuff the fellow got from roberts. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 OK, problem solved. I am going to go with Neil Riddle. His grommet is a bit more money but shipping is $4.00. He sure is a great guy to deal with. Thanks for the reminder, Don. Lefebvre, I really appreciated the offer and would have gone that route if Neil Riddle had not been so reasonable. Thanks again! This forum is great!! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 OK.......here's a gas tank grommet question.......some seller on ebay advertises two different sizes (diameter) of grommets. Can't find his ad right now to see the size choices. So, which would be right for a Pl5? Quote
randroid Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Bob, It's been so long since I've had the locking gas cap off Pigiron that it wouldn't budge, but as close as I could get through "eye-ball interpolation" makes the OD of the neck 2 5/16", give or take 1/16. -Randy Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 So, which would be right for a Pl5? Ask the seller? Why is he advertising two sizes? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Ask the seller? Why is he advertising two sizes? That's easy: The smaller size is for P15's that take only unleaded gas! Quote
