For what he wanted the frame to do, (set on the ground) would have taken more work to do on an original frame than starting from scratch. There were some things I'd have done differently, some of which he corrected as he went along but a good solid build. Shame about the Chevy motor though. Maybe it's the GREEN thing, reusing what you already have.

Its a MOPAR thing you have to be born with it, for someone to put a chevy engine in a mopar its just not right, but like i said its a mopar thing he just would not understand. But he sure is talented.

I really don't mind what's in it as long as it's clean and well engineered, looks like it belonged in there. I don't pay a lot of attention to the engine compartment if it has a SBC in it. They all look pretty much the same after a while. I personally prefer to match engine to vehicle make but that also depends on the style of the build. A '41 Willys for example could find anything in as long as it had a bunch of cubic inches. A T roadster might end up with a 4 cyl or V6 and look right.

I better tell my mate that the 350 Chev has to come out of his 29 Dodge van and will have to be replaced with a 318. He thought that it was funny recently rolling up to a Chev show in a Dodge and taking out the trophy for 'best Chev powered vehicle'. I don't think some of the Chev owners saw the funny side of it though!

To each his own. The hotrod thing doesn't do much for me either, but I think this 29 is a really nice car.

Change is the enemy!

Tell your mate to keep showing up to those Chevy shows in his Dodge. I think it's great!. Glad he got the award.

Hey guys i did not mean to upset anyone to each his own.Im a mopar or no car kind of guy, but i guess i better keep that to myself sorry to those of whom i may have offended. Butch

I'm not offended and I'm the one that started it this time. There are loyalists in every camp. Take it as it was intended- a soft poke in the ribs. Owner likes it that way, who am I to complain? Whatever it takes to enjoy the hobby.

Automotive engineers have jumped from brand to brand through the years. In the hay day of engine design, the suits were more interested in brand loyalty then the guys who drew them up.

That's why a guy like Willem Weertman is so cool. VERY brand loyal.

This is what Chief Engineer Burt Bouwkamp said in an interveiw about brand loyalty.

"Even our competitors admired it. Ed Estes, the son of Pete Estes the President of General Motors, was my backdoor neighbor in 1968. Ed told me that his Dad drove a Dodge Charger a lot. I asked, "Why?" Ed said "Because he likes it." "

If you like it, buy it, or build it. And by all means, drive it!......:D
