Ken Bartz Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I am working on a 1952 Plymouth and have replaced the petal floor pan. What should I use for a gasket around the opening? What is a source of the clutch and brake pedal draft seals? I thought of making one but was stuck for what material to use. Thank you for your help? Quote
Young Ed Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 On my p15 I used this self adhesive foam stuff thats meant to go under a pickup topper. I think Don C and probably others have used the same stuff. It comes in a roll and is about an inch wide. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I use a item we refer to as dum-dum..it is a non hardening putty that was make by 3M..seals watertight yet can be removed at a later date.. Quote
Ken Bartz Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 What a great idea, Ed. I'll go to get some tomorrow. What good ideas are there for the petal draft shields? Quote
norrism1 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Ken, Maybe you could use rubber boots for stick shift for the pedal seals. They have a small diameter hole and corregated (sp?) to allow compression against the opening. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) I used a weather seal form Home Depot that had adhesive on one side. Edited March 8, 2011 by aero3113 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 For brake and clutch pedal draft seals, I used some rubber washers from Lowe's Home Center.....kept in a bin section of the hardware area. Remove rubber pedal pad.......slipped (two for strength, one after the other) rubber washers over the shaft...... gently pushed them (one at a time) thru the hole in the floor with a screwdriver.....they are held in place by the ridge around the shaft under the floor. The hole is open when pedal is pushed down, otherwise closed and sealed during driving. Quote
