Kevinb71 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I have a question regarding seat covers and carpet etc. Is there anyone out there that offers premade seat covers and molded carpets for the older Mopars? I have a 49 windsor club coupe and would like to update the interior, but the upholstery shops are too high for my blood. any suggestions would be helpful. Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Carpet sets can be bought from sources like Kanters, JC Whitney, Roberts Motor Parts, and EZ Boy interiors, for around $150.00 to $200.00, ready cut and sewn in key areas, you install, is made with a felt backing usually. Th same companies offer custom mad seat covers for all make and models of cars, you would install with hog rings, some are quite nice. Or you could hunt around and see if you can come up wit someone who does upholstery on the side, like ina basement or garage shop, a technical school etc. I had my seats recovered at a Hutterite Colony, one of there people does upholstery on the side, He was very good, and had great equipment and know-how, he even rebuilt some of the springs. Gonna post some pics, I bought bulk carpet, cut it myself, and had it sewn, would not do that again, as it does not fit quite right, better off to buy ready made..... 1950 Special Deluxe Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I ordered mine from here; http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/seatcovers.htm. The price went up after I placed my order. They have not arrived yet, so cannot comment on quality, fit, etc. Supposed to arrive this month. I still need to find a carpet set. Quote
cwcars88 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Let us know about the Quality and fit after you get them installed. Quote

bearheart Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I second the vote for automotive interiors. Got entire interior for my '49 coronet coupe from them, everything fit perfect, good instructions for the seats. side panels were easy to figure out. I paid a pro $300 to install the headliner kit. I also got a seat rebuild kit for the front--fixed it up good. They also looked up some samples not in their regular selection and I got something very close to original which is what I wanted. Very good quality of service and communications. At that time a gal named Diane ran the show and was terrific. Look for some good quality hog-ring pliers with stout handles long enough for your whole hand and you'll do fine. (they will provide cheapy pliers which I used but killed my hands doing so). you may need more hog-rings too, look in a "farm" store. Quote
1950 Special Deluxe Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Diane is still there, very good phone service, very nice to deal with. I talked to her today to check on my order and she is checking and will get back to me. Will post pictures once they arrive. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Great info guys. My interior in the Desoto is 100% toast. So will be needing everything. I have subscribed to this thread to later access the info, and watch the progress of others. Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Fred, Your interior in the Chysler looks darn good Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Fred' date='Your interior in the Chysler looks darn good[/quote'] Thanx Bob, I like it, and most people seem to like it too. It is of course not a stock type interior, but not that far off either.....Fred Pics of my interior, not stock not the greatest, seats done by a pro, panels and carpets done by me. The headliner and sun visors need to be finished as well as wind lace, and some other items, like a re-laminated glove box door...... Edited February 16, 2011 by Rockwood Quote
