So has anyone been watching the Barrett/Jackson Auction ? or I should say the Vette and Mustang auction with alot of commercials !!!! It was nice to see a 56 desoto Vert go for over 300.000 . But it killed me to see a Camero beat out a 68 hemi dart:eek:. There was alot of nice cars that went cheap and alot that should have went cheap and then there was ones that got way to much money for them . There is no way that anyone is going to tell me that they have a rare Vette or Mustang cause there are hundreds out there, my god half of them were at the auction . I think the guys running the auction should put a limit to how many vettes , mustangs,camero, to have in the auction , and stick to the classics and not the new stuff. No one wants to see a 2010 mustang or camaro. well I guess we will see what Sunday brings ............

The more Mustangs, Camaros, and T-Birds, means more cash in the pocket for Craig Jackson......even Tuesday when the "lower level" vehicles crossed, I thought they were high compared to last year. I would like to see the spectacle in person one day though....

I went to Barrett Jackson Palm Beach Fla last year. What an experience !!!!!!!!!!!! Some cars are resonable some are high but the experience and just watching it in person was tremendous !!!!!!I live near Buffalo Ny and we have a house in Ft Myers Fla so it was only 2 hrs away. Ive already booked it for this April. I dont have anything in particular but if the right deal comes along well what the hell. !!!!

Don't forget the buyer premium on top of the selling price. I think they take a piece of the sales price from the seller too.

At least the bj auction is no reserve, so everything sells...unlike mecum where a lot of what they show on tv doesn't sell.

And on top of that you have to pay for transportation. Some of them won't let you drive it away from the auction on your own.

this smacks in the face of a conspriracy...I would venture to say it could get messy at a sale, turn the key it no go and you want some warranty/satisfaction on the spot..

Maybe with them involved in the sale, they are a dealer and can't allow a person to leave when the car isn't properly titled or registered.

Maybe they get some kickback from the on site transporters too.

I think part of it has to do with state sales tax and registration

That would make sense. With so many of the buyers not there, and having thier personal assitant makin the bids. I'm sure there are a lot of out of state buyers etc....would make registration tough to do on site. Probally the insurance company won't cover the stituation that way....

With BJ charging everyone admittance fees, I'm sure all the vendors pay handsomely for the opportunity to set up shop, including transportation. It's also a convenience for the buyers/sellers to get all the paperwork completed correctly.
